No CDL Needed- Calibration Truck Operator Job
Accurately calibrate bulk milk tanks on a defined regular routine basis for DFA producers to ensure that producers are being paid accurately for their milk shipments. The geographic region includes New York state, North East Pennsylvania, and parts of New England.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform routine calibrations on each producer bulk tank within a five to seven year cycle
Generate bulk tank charts (via software) using data generated from the calibration process
Submit chart data and reports to appropriate administrative personnel on a weekly basis
In addition to utilizing the database calibration calendar, work with supervisor, field staff, and sales team in developing a calibration schedule
Maintain driver logbook, fuel reports, and any other necessary paperwork for tractor-trailer unit
Transport calibration tractor-trailer unit to maintenance garage for needed maintenance and repair
Assist field staff with bulk tank calibrations using a proofer pail when time permits
Audit milk-hauling routes for driver sampling and weighing practices by accompanying driver from first stop to final destination when time permits
Assist field staff and hauler relations managers with annual milk truck inspections when time permits
Serve as a farm milk pick-up driver to provide support/relief milk hauling service to producers for brief periods of time under infrequent emergency circumstances

Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in the handling of small commercial vehicles
Prior experience as milk hauler or weights and measures technician preferred
Farm background helpful
Certification and/or License --
Valid driver's license for vehicle operated
Must pass a pre-employment DOT physical and drug screening along with a clean driving record
Certain certifications may be required during the course of employment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Able to maneuver a truck/trailer combination or straight truck unit in varying conditions
Able to understand basic plumbing systems and water flow
Able to operate computer programs to generate necessary reports
Able to understand graduated measurement instruments and chart conversions
Able to do basic mechanical repairs and solve problems using mechanical aptitude
Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
Able to work with accuracy and attention to detail, especially when completing paperwork
Able to travel overnight during peak calibration season (March-December)
Able to work irregular hours of day/night based on farm milking schedules
Able to work weekends based on urgency level of needed calibration
Must be able to read, write, and speak English
Travel:
75%-100% (3+ weeks per month)
Pay: $48K-55K
